Tsu Li

Tsu Li

Tsu ran quickly down the hallway of North District Hospital. His leather shoes squeaked as he rushed down to the surgery room. He stopped, and checked a piece of paper that'd been in hid pocket, neatly folded. He looked up, and ran down a little bit more, then suddenly burst through a door.

"Okay, I'm here." he announced to the nurses and surgeons. "We got a gunshot victim?"

One of the nurses nodded. "Yes sir, Li. It appears he's been shot in the leg. Not very good. But we don't believe that it's highly serious, just painful."

Tsu nodded. Showtime. "He's been opened up a little, yes? I wouldn't want him to hurt too bad. We don't exactly have anesthesia for everything." He washed his hands and donned a glove on his left one.

The nurse nodded. "Yes, he has but we applied a bit of local anesthesia as well, seeing as he's never been admitted with a gunshot, and well..." she stopped.

Tsu looked at her. "Oh. He's never seen my 'method' before?" he chuckled. He looked at the patient. A young man, probably in his twenties. "Well, prop him up then. He wouldn't want to miss this."

One of the doctors obliged. The patient was pale, and hesitant, but he didn't struggle. He looked at Tsu with wide eyes.

Tsu smiled. "I shall try to be gentle, since it is your first time." he said slyly.

The doctor that had propped up the patient laughed, but stopped quickly. Tsu had told that joke countless times.

Using his gloved hand, he jammed it into the enlarged wound, pulling it open. He quickly grabbed the bullet, and tossed it into the collection plate.

The patient screamed out of reflex, since the area was drugged, but it was still shocking to someone who'd never seen it.

Tsu ignored the man, and placed his right hand in the wound. Slowly, it began tightening, closing itself. Healing. He left his hand there, making sure the process would complete, and then slowly pulled it out as the wound became smaller and smaller. He grimaced at the memory of what had happened the first time he hadn't pulled out in time. He managed to fix it, but he never thought that child would ever visit him again.

The patient was awestruck, and horrified, as one would be upon viewing a car crash in the making. But this was no car crash, rather, quite the opposite. The man slumped back, relieved.

Tsu tossed his glove, and began washing his hands. "Thank you doctors, please continue with the standard procedure of confirming that he is able to function properly." he droned as he had many times before. "Thank you nurses, please return to your stations for the evening." he turned to walk away. "I would like to have the evening off, as well." he notified to the nurse he'd spoken to. "Please do not disturb me unless we have a highly serious emergency."

He pondered his decision as he walked away. He hadn't taken a day off in monthes. Well, it did seem appropriate to take a little bit of time to honor someone. But he couldn't leave the hospital, since he'd become one of it's most valuable assets. He took the freight elevator to the top floor, to the home Ricky had left him. He tossed his coat on the floor. Tired, so tired. Almost as bad as when he first started. He lay on his leather couch for a little while, feeling it's coolness against his arms and back. Then he sat up, and went to his fridge. He pulled gallon of orange juice, and poured himself a glass. He put the gallon away, and held up the glass.

"Here's to you, uh, Ricky's kid." he said slowly, awkwardly. He didn't even know Ricky's kid's name, and he didn't go out of his way to look for it. But he knew when his birthday was. "Um, happy birthday. Rest in piece." he took a large pull of the juice. God, he was shit at speeches. He drained the cup, and left it on his counter. He looked at the time on the clock. Maybe he could go out to a club tonight. It wasn't so late, and he did have his phone. He smiled. He hadn't been out in a long time. He hopped in the shower, dressed up quite fashionably, ditching his usual outfit of his old school uniform that he wore under his doctors coat. He admired himself in the mirror for a second.

"I do look good." he said to himself. He grabbed his car keys, his phone, and hopped inside the elevator. He was going to enjoy himself tonight, yes he was.

Tsu walked over to his car, and unlocked it. He hadn't used it in forever. He climbed inside and started it up. It sputtered, but then roared to life. He carefully practiced in the parking lot, and then he drove off to the Western district. "No," he said aloud to himself, "it's the White Zone now." he smiled. He was the leader of "The Green Zone," a sort of haven, as he imagined, for those that were sick and injured. He even had a name for his group, "The Green Turtles." He enjoyed that name. He swerved, almost hitting another car.

He arrived at what looked like a club. There was loud music, people standing in line outside. He parked his car in a garage, and waited in line. It moved quickly, and thanks to his fancy clothes and a fifty dollar bill, he was inside.
